...time passes...

Just to the left of the swamp cooler, two odd little protrusions have risen from the ashes of our old crumbling chimney. All told, it was basically a two day detour... The plumber started working on the bathtub today, it's screwed into the wall at this point. Chad nailed the baseplate for the wall for the bathroom we have been waiting to build. (Just to say it was started, I think.) Chad is proud of the roof, he got it all pieced together and looking nice.

The plumber has a grunt working with him. That's all he really is, a grunt. They had him chop the bush down to about 2 feet tall near lunchtime. (In the rain. It's hard being the grunt sometimes.) Later in the day, I had both Wesley Cole and Rustin Reed come over to help. We spent a little time mudding the call in one of the bedrooms, then attacked the bush. There were a lot of branches to deal with, when they were taken care of, we focused on what was left of the bush. It took a chain, the truck in 4 wheel drive, and me being a little less than gentle, but the bush came out. And I almost ran over the parking sign at the street. (I had to back up a little, then gun it to get the bush out. Afterwards, I thought about dragging the thing down the street to leave it on Dick Keele's lawn, but the bush kept falling apart, so we tossed it in the dumpster.

Drew came over around 5pm or so to help out. We all tore out the laundry room walls, without burning down the house or sending Drew to the hospital, not for the lack of trying...

Looks good, huh? (It will look better later, I am sure.) Today we also got a water softener, to protect the tankless water heater, and I hired someone to replace the furnace and install an air conditioner. He will be in Monday to start the install.
