Our swamp cooler is dead. The pump is fine, that's only 4 years old. The motor is fine, it's only 2 years old. The basin where the water sits is no fine. It is rusted through in a large number of places.
I went up there this morning to work on it, and ended up sealing a number of holes, some larger than a pea, one nearly the size of a dime. When I put water in to check for seaworthyness, a number of little holes were found.
We can still use it in the evening when things cool off to blow air into the house, but sometime soon I need to get a new swamp cooler for the house. For now we will all hide out in the back room.
