Car Seat shopping
Tara and I went looking for car seats tonight. You would think we had plenty of them collected by now, but they break, get disgustingly filthy, wear out, etc. We know we want to get the baby a seat like Ruth has. (The Evenflo Tribute V convertable car seat. $60 at Burlington Coat Factory, $48 at Walmart.com) It's a convertable one, can go from 5-80 pounds. (Not that an 80 pound child would be comfortable in that type of car seat...) This is nice, the baby can have the same car seat for quite a while, but Tara is concerned about what we will set the baby in during the short term. In the past, we have always had an infant seat, one of the ones with handles, you don't have to move the baby at all. If we get this seat (and I really don't want to have to buy 2 seats...), there would be no more of that. Do we have enough hands to go around now, that the baby will never have to worry about not being held? Will it be inconvientent to not have the seat with handles? Is there a better way? We are in uncharted territory here. Does anyone have any suggestions short of just breaking down and buying 2 seats? We also looked at the swing that Amy got when Madilyn was born. It's nice, but I don't know if it's $65 nice. ($42 on Walmart.com. What's the deal with the $12-13 in store markup, or $12-13 online discount?) Would a swing be a good option to take around places? Or do I just get used to wearing that baby carrier thing everywhere I go?

Just get a new car seat! It isn't like this one is going to be your last girl. And on the baby swing, how do you know if she is going to like swings in the fist place? Wait to see if she likes them first, then get one. Some babies dont like them. And if you ever come here, you can put her in our swing (we just have to put it together again, but we will do it for her)
