I finished the bunkbeds. At least until I get tired of having them not painted, at which time I will revisit the issue.
It's timely, too, because Missy and my Dad just got here, and Drew didn't know they were getting in today, there is no one at his house, so we put up the bunkbed in the middle bedroom (where it was headed anyway), freeing the back bedroom for Dad to stay in.

Aren't you worried there's not an extra hotizontal guard or something for the girl on top?
How much do you think it cost to make?
The guard rails for the top bunk have not yet been installed. It was hot yesterday. I was tired. They just have to be cut and tossed on.
It cost $100 to make.
I never had horizontal guards on my bed, but my daughter's bed does and it makes it a harder to make the bed
I think they look great! And, I vote for the guard rail, having had experience with kids and bunk beds.....
